Other Information:
Students will need to bring cookware and dishes, and, if
desired, a television, VCR, and microwave. Do not bring
major appliances or furniture as all this is provided.
All utilities (heat, water, electrical), local telephone
service, trash pickup, basic cable TV, and computer network
connection (located in each bedroom) are included in the
housing semester fee. Computer modems are not to be used--an
ethernet card is required for computer connection. Most
modern computers come with this capability, so only an ethernet
cable is required. The ethernet card will provide faster
service than a modem.
Students may bring an answering machine or contact UDit
at 937-229-3888 for voice mail. Students may use calling
cards for long distance phone calls or obtain a 7-digit
long distance access code from UDit.
Housing contacts are signed for the 9-month
academic year or 12-month Law School academic year only.
The contractual period begins 48 hrs before the day of orientation
and ends 24 hrs after the final spring exam. The housing
contract includes Christmas, Spring and Easter breaks. Extensions
may be granted for students pursuing summer study.
School of Law First-Year Student Reservation and Assignment
Process:
First-year law student housing can be reserved through
the School of Law
web site in the prospective students section.
Housing units and parking spaces are assigned on a first-come,
first-serve basis. The date on which a student’s housing
reservation form is received by the School of Law Admission
Office will be the date used in determining both housing
and parking assignments. Because of overhead and
parking space limitations, no large vehicles such as SUVs
and vans can park in Plumwood's garage
facility.
Limited parking is available on city streets. On street
parking should be kept to a minimal time limit. Cars can
be ticketed and/or towed. On-campus parking permits are
not available. In completing the School of Law first-year
housing reservation form, please indicate the type of housing
desired. It is important to indicate a second preference.
A housing reservation form will not be accepted
until a seat deposit has been made to the School
of Law Admissions Office.
Once your seat deposit and housing reservation form have been received by the School
of Law, it is then forwarded to Residential Services and, depending upon availability,
a housing assignment will be sent to you.
In order for Residential Services to confirm your housing
assignment, you must complete and sign the on-line housing
contract by the assigned date. Before classes begin,
there is a $250 cancellation fee to cancel your contract.
If canceling contract after classes begin, cancellation
fee is determined by the date of requests. (See
contract terms & conditions.)
